In 2014, a vertical Pelton turbine with four injectors designed, manufactured, and installed by DELTA-DELFINI & CÍA., S.A. for Electrogeneradora del Austro S.A. (ELECAUSTRO). It started operating in January 2015 to these days. Using a flow rate of 700 liters per second and a total head of 165 meters, this turbine has the capacity to produce 970 kW at the turbine shaft. The power plant is located on the Gualaceo – Limón road, 4.5 kilometers from the Gualaceo canton, in the province of Azuay, and it uses the waters of the San Francisco River.
